In an excerpt from the editorial on the second page, the full range of affected groups and environments is made clear:

"Furthermore, [VANOC] list[s] sustainability as one of the values underlying their mission statement. It states specifically that they are working towards “financial, economic, social and environmental sustainability.” In reality, however, not a single one of these aspects of sustainability has been achieved as seen in the destruction of sensitive environmental sanctuaries, stifling dissenting voices through bureaucratic challenges and police and court repression, an expanded surveillance and security state the lack of corporate responsibility, the gentrification of the lower Eastside, a blossoming Olympic sex trade and the abuses of First Nation’s rights, among a number of other issues."

Four of the articles in this are well researched pieces from AW@L members of JHR.
